Google Adsense

Google Adsense is something that you must have if you want to make money from a blog of whatever topic that you are writing on. What it does is that it displays simple text and image ads on a part of your blog that are targeted to what you are writing about. To many bloggers, Google has been a constant money maker. You should read the success stories people had on Adsense to see why it is so popular with bloggers and with most web masters.

You can enroll to allow them to post text, image and video advertisements on your sites. These ads generate profits thru either a per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis and at this moment, Google is testing a new, cost-per-action based mode of service.

The good thing about Adsense that sets it apart from other ad serving networks is that it employs search technology that serve ads based on your blog content, where you are located and other aspects. I see Adsense in almost all blogs that I visited and more or less, it has become an accepted mode of placing advertising on a website. It is simple to set up yet can be very profitable any determined blogger. The ads are also less intrusive than most banners and ultimately, the ads are usually relevant to the content that is available on your blog.

Do take note however, that sometimes you will see temporary ads for charitable causes and these are called public service announcements. How this works is that AdSense utilizes JavaScript code to integrate the ads into your blog and if that part of your blog has not yet been crawled by the Mediabot, the charitable ad pops up. It can be irritating at times but hey, give credit to Google for at least coming up with a way to hide their Mediabot’s inefficiencies by cloaking it with “We are not evil. We are a charitable company,” message. Of course this comes at your expense whether you like it or not.

But there is a way to get around the above problem. For example, if your blog page is about flying pigs, then it would be good if you can make sure that the word “flying pigs” appears with higher frequency and prominently with typically several aspects about the “flying pigs” outlined across the page. This will greatly increase the probability that Google will deliver very specific advertisements for “flying pigs” to your ad pages. The end result would most likely be better click through rates as your visitor after getting high on reading your post on flying pigs would have gotten more interested in the subject and hence a higher chance for them to click on an ad served on that page. Trust me. I have seen this happening on my sites and blogs. Visitors basically can’t get enough of the information that you are serving and some would click on those ads to get to know more about what they have been reading.

AdSense For Search is an accompanying item to the standard AdSense program, and it allows you to place Google search boxes on your blog pages. This is how it works. Whenever a user from your blog searches the web or the site with the search box, Google shares any ad revenue it makes from those searches with the site owner. It’s a cool contraption to have and lets you earn some money too. Personally, I have had some of my visitors using the Search bar on my blogs. Its useful to have and lets you earn some revenue the easy way.
There used to be a time when you could visit sites with a small image or message which says “Click on my Adsense ads” or “Help me to sustain this site by clicking on the ads on the right”. Those guys that started with Adsense in the early days made some good revenue with these tricks as hey, what they heck, it’s just a click to help this dude out. But right now, try doing that and see your blog get banned by Google, They have lotsa spies around on the net looking for this sort of things and you are better off just getting more good content on your site than trying this what I call early adopters Adsense tricks.
