I have been asked by many of my friends. Are you serious about blogging for money? Apart from seeing the curious looks from their faces, I am also confronted with cunical gestures and all too common, “nah, it won’t work look”. As such, this gave me much reason to write this post. This post aims to throw some light on why I even thought about doing a blog and the information that I have gleaned doing research on other successful bloggers and the business models that they employ.
I have visited quite a number of blogs whose owners, just by using their bogs were able to earn a fairly sizable income. Heck, they were able to live on their blogging income and quit their jobs. Now, I am not saying that you should do the same. You must find out the factors behind their success and the steps they have taken to get to where they are.
I realise that after going through the About section of their blogs is that these bloggers took action and started early. Now, you might be thinking to yourself that if these guys started early and succeeded, then there is no point for me to get into this whole blogging thing, its just too late for me.
My answer to that is that although these guys started early, there are still topics on the internet that have not been covered. There is so many topics that one can blog about and therefore, even if these bloggers started early, there is bound to be niche topics that people have not touched on. I recommend that you visit some of these blogs and click on their About page to learn more about the blogger and the reason he is still blogging and continue to be a success. I went through the About page of Darren Rowse, owner of problogger.net.
He took up blogging in 2002 but started problogger in 2004. That means that he has been blogging for about 5 years and only about 3 years for problogger. 5 years in my opinion is not too long a time if you are building a business. That means that in business terms, his business is still in its infant stage. But even in that infant stage as you might want to call it, he has been hugely successful and have gotten himself a sizable audience. He mentioned that he started problogger because he wanted to keep a record of what he was learning about blogging. So you see that for some of these guys, blogging was accidental but with constant updates in their blog and the valuable information that they are giving their readers, the blog inevitably flourished.
Another blogger that have found success in blogging is Steve Pavlina.
His site is currently the most popular personal development site in the world, receiving 1.8 million visitors per month. He has even shared how much revenue he has made from Adsense alone. take a look at what he has earned. Just from these two guys alone, you can tell that if you have the determination to succeed, you absolutely can too. Start researching and pick a topic that you would like to blog. after tha, get a blogger account and start posting!
